Two big population centers plus a myriad of smaller towns and developments make up this fastest growing region in the metro area. Infrastructure problems associated with rapid growth have been exacerbated by population added in the wake of Katrina. Parts of St Tammany were heavily damaged by the storm and flooding damaged parts of Slidell but the waters receded quickly and people are hard at work rebuilding.
