- Breadcrumbs - trace back to the top of the hierarchy
- Search - search titles or the full text of the articles
- Topic Tree - top two levels of the site under the current main topic
- Next / Previous Controls - like turning to the next page
- Outline - like a table of contents, but it is big and slow, every page in the site
Note:There are lots of external links embedded in the text of this website. Following the advice of human interface usability guru Jakob Nielsen I have not broken the function of your "back button" by opening a new page whenever you follow one of these links. To get back to this site don't close the page, just click the back button. (I am not so sure I like this advice, but I am willing to try it for a while. Most sites open a new page when you go to an external site. With modern tabbed browsers this is very useful.)
