Paul Tulane was a merchant in New Orleans who left his fortune to create a University. It worked.

In 1967 the Saints played their first game in Tulane stadium. The Saint's won the toss and Green Bay had to kick off. John Gilliam caught the ball and returned the kick for a touchdown. I was there in seats above the south end zone where he scored. In 2006 the Saints have made it to the playoffs three times, once as a Divisional Champion when they won their only playoff game against the St Louis Rams. Boston may not have won a World Series between 1919 and 2004, but the Saints have never won anything.

Tulane stadium has been demolished. Eddie Price's descendants have moved away. We'll talk more about Tulane, Newcomb and Loyola later. The Rathskeller is the college bar beneath the UCC.
