Bars, beignets and art galleries alongside eclectic residential areas make up this neighborhood. Bourbon street provides the bars, Royal the galleries, and Decatur the beignets. Just down river from the convention center and the Superdome, and ringed by fine dining and hotels many visitors to New Orleans see this part of the Quarter as "New Orleans."

Garbage pickup was a problem before and after the storm. Starting in January 2007 the city contracted with SDT in an effort to achieve "Disney like" cleanliness. Although residents still complain about the new, bigger waste receptacles, the results have been spectacular.

Crime has never been a problem. Police and private security have proven effective. There have been a few isolated events, but the city's main crime problem have been kept well outside the areas popular attractions.

In October 2006 there were  a few incidents in the Faubourg Marigny area just downriver from the Quarter and there have been two bar arguments in the Quarter that escalated into shootings.

If you love living in 850 square feet with a courtyard, balconies in a stunningly beautiful and action packed location on the high ground a mere 500 feet from the river you've found your home.
