71% of the Metro Area population is back as of January 15th. Almost all of the missing are from Orleans. Only 29% of Orleans is back, excluding Orleans the other parishes report 96% of their pre-K population is in place

Hotels 75% of 38,000 rooms in operation
FEMA Trailers 30% of 64,791 requested are occupied
Libraries 55% of branches open
Transit less than 10% of prior usage with about 1/2 of lines in service
Traffic Lights 50% in operation, lots of 4 way stops
Businesses 75% of 81,000 businesses are open
Restaurants 1/3 of 6,651 are open, many have limited menus (www.nomenu.com)
Hospitals 12 out of 20 open providing 42.5% of pre-Katrina beds
Electric 70% of customers
Schools 58% of 172,000 in public 83% of 50,000 in parochial, other private 100% open

Hospital space looks like the dangerous issue. Until more service is available does it make sense to bring more people into the city?

Will getting those 45,000 FEMA trailers increase the population by 150,000?
