WDSU TV ran an interesting piece on the USPS last night. As an
experiment they mailed first class letters to various New Orleans zip
codes from a variety of spots in the area and around the country. Many
of the letters were delivered in 3-5 days, a few were delayed as much
as 14 days, 30% of the mail did not arrive. During the test period a
Holiday Greeting card arrived at WDSU a full 41 days after it had been
mailed.
Magazines are not being delivered at all.
The USPS claims things will imrove dramatically when their downtown New Orleans processing center reopens in March.
