Where is the racism here?
- Is it the behavior of the people who flushed bricks down the
toilets at the Superdome? Is it the inaction of others around them who allowed this to
happen? Is it the others who used halls and floors as bathrooms?
- Is it the organizers with lights, generators, port-o-lets and
more at Zephyr Field but without the sense to find a route to bring
these into the city?
- Is it the people who broke into private suites and stole the liquor and
damaged the furnishings, the walls and the carpets? Is the others who drank the liquor and sat in the suites?
- Is
it the whole group who couldn't / didn't organize themselves
sufficiently to prevent this behavior. Is it the culture that
makes this behavior possible?
- Is it the authorities who provided no information and no organization as the catastrophy progressed? Is
it the National Guard who frisked people brusquely and took away their
lighters to enforce the no smoking ban then issued MRE's containing
matches?
- Is it the mayor who didn't use the buses he had to get people out of
town? So what if he couldn't find drivers? I bet there were plenty of
volunteers. Was he afraid of the lawyers?
- Is it the citizens who left town with half empty cars leaving the
hapless behind? Is it the owners of the locked cars all over town who
left their vehicles to flood when those cars could have carried
thousands to safety?
- Is it the marchers who tried to cross the CCC bridge to escape the flooded city. Or is it the police who turned them back fearing what they would do to the communities on the other side. Or was it the earlier arrivals who had looted a shopping center in Gretna, set it on fire and made police fearful.
- Its just too easy to point at FEMA and say it's their fault because they didn't plan on such a crowd.
