Pronounced locally "mee-row" this area was a nice residential community tucked between the Murphy Oil refinery and the Arpent 40 canal and MRGO. Flooding was extreme and a nasty oil spill contaminated many properties.

Now many of the residents are stuck with a new problem. Flood insurance paid them enough to pay off their mortages but didn't provide anything to rebuild. What can they use to start over? And where? Many are on the northshore around Slidell.

  • Oil Spill Damage from Katrina and Rita : Katrina and Rita damaged hundreds of drilling rigs and 40% of the underwater pipelines.
