Navigation
is fully controlled by relationships between entries in the database.
The main menu is displayed across the top of the page just under the
browser toolbars. Entries on the main menu are database entries related directly to the homepage for the site. On some
systems the Main menu looks just like a
toolbar line. The menu is typically limited to a single level but can
be setup as a full multilevel menu with pull down submenus. Microsoft
Windows XP does not present its palette of system colors the same way
that Windows 2000 does so there is currently some inconsistency that we
are working on.
The Topic menu in the left panel presents a tree view of the first two levels of the content hierarchy. Session variables are used to maintain position in the topic list.
The breadcrumb trail is displayed as small text links just below the main menu starting on the right side of the page. Derived
from the database, the breadcrumb trail may display pages that you have
not yet visited if the page you are currently viewing has been linked
from multiple pages.
The Search allows full text searching of item names either as simple
words or as expressions with wildcards and SQL Server search logic.
Pages may be displayed sequentially using the first/prev/next/last, VCR
style controls at the bottom of the page just above the footer.
Finally the footer includes links in the form of a menu to selected pages in the site.
