The New Orleans ("sponsor name") Classic is an annual stop on the PGA
tour. Now held in late April just before Jazz Fest the tournament is a
popular reminder that golf is played year round in New Orleans. The
tournament has been held at Lakewood, English Turn and the TPC Course near Bayou Segnette in West Jefferson.
The TPC was damaged by Katrina so in 2006 the tour returned to English
Turn but will go back to the TPC next year.
Metairie Country Club is considering a berm around its golf course that
would make the course a ponding facility in the event of flooding
should storm surge shut down the East Jefferson pumps again.
