In order to gauge the efficacy of their programs, New Orleans Catholic elementary schools students take the Stanford Achievement Tests each spring. The results are in, and New Orleans Catholic schools are performing better than ever with results at or above the 70'th percentile among students nationwide in Reading, Math, and Language in grades 3-7.

Notably the scores at the 7'th grade level are some of the highest indicating the education program is working well. Similarly the disruption of Hurricane Katrina had no impact on the program. 2006 scores are the highest reported with an almost unimaginable 77th percentile achieved in 4th and 7th grade Language skills.

For an entire school system to perform this much better than the national average is a testament to the value families and students place on education. 12,000 students from 84 schools in the New Orleans area took the tests.

Students in the New Orleans catholic schools pay tuition to attend those schools and must adhere to a discipline program and wear uniforms. Family involvement is encouraged through regular parent-teacher conferences. Multi-generation participation in many schools creates a fierce loyalty unmatched in other New Orleans institutions.
