February 13, 2007 An F2 tornado touched down in Westwego just before 3am. Continuing toward the Northeast it crossed the river and clipped Carrollton. A few minutes later it touched down in Pontchartrain Park near Lakefront Airport before disappearing over the lake.

One woman was killed inside her FEMA trailer when it was lifted and tossed against a levee. 36 people were hurt. Several buildings were destroyed including the Bon Soir motel. That evening about 75 people were housed in shelters because their homes were unlivable. Most were quickly relocated to hotels and motels.

The city was visibly shaken by Mother Nature issuing yet another reminder that she is not done.
