In the primary election contenders included James Gray and Franz Zibilich. The vote broke on predominately racial lines with the traditional white precincts going for Zibilich in the primary and  Jordan in the runoff. Atkins' (a black woman and clerk of civil court) greatest support came from the Central City, Gentilly and Ninth Ward. Did the public know enough about these attorneys and their qualifications to be DA? Or was this vote just another popularity contest with GoTV (LIFE and New vs. BOLD?) machine support?
