Landrieu is Mayor and looking at the garbage contract in 2010 he calls foul. First he asks for billing detail and support. The companies don't offer much. Auditors and volunteers are rejected. Negotiations drag on.
No one recommends reduced services. We get twice weekly home pickup with some very nice 96 gallon gallon cans but no recycling services. We had curbside recycling weekly before the storm.
The city is proposing an additional $8/mo fee on top of the existing $12/mo fee added to S&WB billing across the city for garbage collection.
On November 3, 2010 Landrieu announces that negotiations with Richard and Metro (what about Torres?) aren't working and that he will offer up the contacts for bid. Waste Management and River Parishes where are you?
The incumbent firms are ready to sue but Landrieu thinks he's on firm legal footing to offer the contracts for bid in January.
