Its still not about us and I'd love for it to stay that way for quite some time. Beautiful spring weather lifted spirits. Rough weather stayed mainly to the North although an isolated hail storm pelted the south shore prompting the weather establishment to overreact every time it clouded up.

Crayfish became more abundant and strawberries were everywhere. The French Quarter Fest, Pontchatoula Strawberry Festival and the Crescent City Classic 10K run kept spirits high.

The national and international scenes remained full of strife. The turmoil in Libya continued and seemed likely to spread to Syria. John McCain visited Libya and true to form he opted for more intervention. Has this man never seen a war he does not want to join? Japan will be struggling for years to overcome its 311 disaster. Three reactors at Fukushima #1 seem damaged beyond repair and radioactive water has leaked into the ocean.

On the economic front Standard and Poor's threatened to downgrade US Treasuries in the future. They argued that the Congress lacked the will to fix the fiscal problems confounding the government. The government remains mired in partisan strife and content to fight small battles rather than face the big issues. Gold, silver and oil continued their upward climb against the dollar. Locally gasoline flirted with the four dollar barrier.

A rash of tornadoes across the south devastated a swath of Alabama from Tuscaloosa to Birmingham.
