Fiscal Cliff Jumping was in Style but a last minute deal buoyed Wall Street.  Who would have guessed it would come down to the wire?  Next up we face the debt ceiling, sequesters and the always popular "continuing resolution" used since 2008 instead of a federal budget. Shut down? Default?, Bond Ratings? Will Obama mint the trillion dollar platinum coin? ( anyone, Buehler?)

The NFL Playoffs are in full swing starting with Wild Card weekend on 1/6-7 leading up to the Suberbowl in New Orleans on February 3.Unfortunately the Saints won't be participating having fallen three wins short of the playoffs. Street closures began being announced on 1/5 as preparations are underway all around the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Mardi Gras will be on February 12. It looks like the Krewe of Alla is rolling on Saturday Feb 2 to avoid the conflict with the Superbowl and has thus had to take a different route, one entirely in Jefferson Parish. Now that's a load for a Krewe named Alla, meaning ALgiers LouisianA.

Previous Mayor Ray Nagin was indicted on 21 counts of soliciting and collecting bribes and steering contracts. Mark St. Pierre Imagine Software, Frank Ferdella Home Solutions of America, Rodney Williams Three Fold Consultants all previously convicted are now testifying. A couple of new bits may be emerging as well. Politics in New Orleans has become a full contact sport.
