The Superbowl saw the Ravens over somebody in a pretty good game (yawn). Now we really do have to wait to get ready for some football. [In a side note many local fans pulled for the much abused Alabama Crimson Tide in the national college football championship over Notre Dame because they were the SEC Champs and as such a "local team." The same logic did not carry over to San Francisco as most locals seemed to favor the Ravens. We were right both times.]

Mardi Gras went off fine for the vast majority. Threatening weather held off just enough that only a few of the festivities were interrupted and Fat Tuesday, although overcast, got well into the afternoon before the weather began to deterioriate into rain.

Nagin surprised us with a not guilty plea rather than a deal. He's out on bail awaiting trial. This is likely to become a lengthy process.

Recount of the CCC toll ballot changed nothing even though the recount increased the margin of passage from 18 to 36 votes. Lawsuits are still pending.
