The Miami Dolphins arrived with a record of 3-0 for a Monday Night battle of undefeated teams. It went bad from the coin toss. Miami won the toss and elected to defer. New Orleans got the ball and drove to the end zone in six plays. Miami fought back and had a chance to take the lead in the second quarter. The first half ended with the Saints on top by 11. As the third quarter unfolded the game turned into a rout of Miami . The valiant effort in the first half went sour for the fins as turnovers and a near perfect performance by Brees result in an overwhelming New Orleans win. The final score 38-17 fails to capture just how bad it was for Miami.

New Orleans only negative was continued lack of a running game. Maybe they'll have to redefine the screen pass and call it a run. Screen run any one?  Miami was able to gain plenty of yards against the Saints defense, but then something would happen and the Saints would end up with the ball. Miami turnovers made what might have been an interesting contest one of those blowouts that leave Saints fans smiling from ear to ear and wishing that we could save some of those points for the nail biters we know are coming.

Brees was named NFC offensive player of the week for his performance. This was his fifteenth time to receive this honor. People are already thinking ahead to the Superbowl and the possibility of a Brees vs Payton Manning rematch.
