Ten Years on, August 29 was observed. Plenty has changed and little has changed.

For me there has been an important personal change. I now own a house in Metairie, Old Metairie to be more precise. I still own the house on Comet Street that rode out Katrina with nary a scratch. The new house was also unharmed. As soon as I can get Comet ready for showing, I'll be off to Metairie.

Having cancelled my local newspapers, I feel oddly informed as to the local scene. Nola.com is a good summary but incomplete.

Ten years is an important milestone. Thinking way back to 1975, ten years after Betsy, we were swaggering. That pesky flooding thing was in our rear view mirror.  We learned it was not. Do we now think we've solved it? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...
