Take the Saints bye week stir in an eclectic selection of gourmet po-boys from local (and not so) local spots like Jaques Imo's, Vincent's, the Saltwater Grill, Pascale's Manale, Parkway Tavern, even GW Fins, and the Redfish Grille, add a crowded, funky street scene on old time Oak Street just outside the Riverbend area in the Carrollton neighborhood filled with Saints Fans, Tulane students and one or two LSU types, add a music stage (or three) and you have a first class street festival New Orleans style. Corporate style sponsorship means Blue Plate Mayonnaise.
If the NFL cooperates with the weather bureau it can be a real
smash. In 2009 and 2010 it seems to be overflowing the neighborhood and
looking for an expansion onto Carrollton Avenue. Footnote 2010 the only
po-boy that's hard to find this year is an oyster po-boy. Thanks again
BP. We know your oil didn't affect the oysters, but when the state
opened the diversions to keep the muck away it killed an entire
generation on the oyster reef.
Not so sure if you want to come out. Of course you can stay home and watch the Cowboys (ugh) on TV, but will you be able to get a Lobster Po-Boy, or Cuban Pork, or Duck with citrus jalepeno marmelade? Maybe not.
