The Crescent City Classic 10K is the city's big event in running. The Mississippi Bridge run probably won't be turned back by the Gretna Police. The Corporate Cup encourages a different kind of corporate competition as the desk bound to get out and run the CBD. The Mardi Gras Marathon was run on the causeway a couple of times. The 5K Symphony Run around Audubon Park followed by a performance of the Louisiana Philharmonic is one of the most fun runs. The quirky Red Dress Run hosts cross dressers and wanna be's.

Of course you don't need an organized event to run and the river levee is a great place every day. On the westbank it has a dirt surface so its easy on the knees. Running in the fog when you can't see to the base of the levee is a hoot.

Breathe in, thump, thump, breathe out, thump, thump. Repeat.
