The assessors election included a fascinating
twist this year.
Seven candidates qualified on the I.Q. ticket. Each
made a pledge to quit (when the positions are consiolidated under the
constitution) if elected and in the mean time assign his salary to hire
a
professional appraiser to take over the function creating a defacto
single assessor in New Orleans.
We'll get to see just how fed up people
are with the status quo.
Only one of the IQ candidates was elected, but the Legislature did pass a bill to consolidate the offices into one.
