Released on April 27 - Sen Susan Collins R Maine and Sen Joseph Lieberman D Mass

Special version of the Senate Report in pdf format with some interesting photos

185 Findings  (a big hole that appeared after the ship hit an iceberg caused the sinking)
  • Warnings unheeded
  • Preparations Insufficient
  • Response Unacceptable
  • Caused by ignoring long term factors
  • Characterized by waste, fraud and abuse

86 Recommendations  (rearrange the deck furniture)
  • Abolish FEMA, replace with NPRA
  • Make NPRA responsible for preparedness and response
  • Regional NPRA offices
  • One Operations Center - the NOC
  • Review government commitments
  • Strengthen National Response Plan (NRP)
  • Improve the implementation of the Catastrophic Incident Annex
Outside the report the Senators said they were disturbed by the Executive Branch's reluctance to participate in this investigation, provide required documents, etc. They will continue to be disturbed as the main recommendation "Abolish FEMA" is going to be ignored.

Don't worry.  Be happy. Global warming is reducing the number of icebergs anyway.
