Continuing to press for relief to New Orleans and the Gulf Coast
President Bush made his eleventh visit since the storm on April 27. Appearing with Rep. Bill
Jefferson, Gov. Kathleen Blanco, Mayor Ray Nagin and a host of others
he visited a Habitat for Humanity job site where all the leaders hefted
lumber and tools for a little ceremonial rebuilding.
President Bush has been in the news recently pressing Congress for a
$92 billion appropriation including funds for Iraq and New Orleans. He
has threatened to veto the bill if the Congress tacks on additional
billions for other projects.
Well they tacked on a few billion running the bill up to $109 billion
then passed it by what appears to be a veto proof super majority. Bush
has yet to act on it.
It's not a Second Line, its a roof gable. From the right you can see
Mayor Ray Nagin leading the procession. Then there are a couple of
Habitat for Humanity builders in their white tee shirts. Then you see
the Prez and another Habitat guy followed by Rep. William Jefferson. Gov. Kathleen Blanco can be
seen at the far left of the photo (dare we say "bringing up the rear?")
