Why is school only open 9 months a year? Most of the reasons are buried in the past. Agriculture, the harvest, lack of air conditioning, summer school for remedial studies. Why are any of these important in a system of standardized education modules?

Competition is intense. It is past time for tradition to give way to performance. A module based approach would allow students to pursue a year round curriculum. They could take vacations and holidays on their own terms and would know exactly where they stand at all times.
