Industrial Training

The big software companies all offer training in their products. My company ran a third party training system for one of these companies. We offered exceptional education for a premium price in a minimal time frame. It worked like this:

The software company produced the syllabus, lesson plans and all training materials including software. They registered the students and kept records of achievement. Instructors delivered the lectures and circulated during the workshop sessions to be sure the students were successfully completing the modules. We provided the facilities, student workstations, servers, broadband access,  tech support and did all the software setups. Students provided feedback at the end of each session rating the instructors, facility and the training material.

The process was highly effective but expensive. On line delivery of software training has penetrated this market in a big way. Travel problems right after 9/11 contributed to the rise on online training. Competitive pressures have assured that third party delivery is all but gone. As travel costs increase and training demands increase, on line delivery is sure to gain more market share.
