“High Net Worth Individuals” (HNWI) are defined as those who have investable assets of more than $1M. The number of these very wealthy individuals in the US declined by 35 thousand over the past two years and their wealth is down but the fact remains that 1% of Americans are very rich while across the world only 1/5th that many have a million bucks beyond their basic needs.

20% of Americans make more than $100,000 per year from great jobs or professions with considerable job security. Many own their homes outright and have considerable savings in their tax deferred accounts. Most would consider these people rich but there is more...
