Mary is enjoying a boost in popularity due to her success (?) with Katrina aid and the OCS revenue sharing bill in the Senate. Mary votes as a moderate centrist.

Won election over Woody Jenkins by the slimmest of margins in 1996. Fended off his effort to void the election. Barely squeaked past Haik-Terrel in her reelection in 2002.

Voted to authorize the war in Iraq along with 77 other misled Senators.
Did not vote on the 2001 Patriot Act but voted Yes to its renewal in 2006.
Voted for formation of the Department of Homeland Security
Voted for Roberts and against Alito, was key to gang of 14 that cleared the way for a vote on these Supreme Court nominees.
Officially no opionion on abortions but voted against late term Abortion
75% ACLU approval rating but voted for Flag Desecration Amendment
C- rating by the NRA
Opposes school vouchers
Opposes increased drug offense penalties

As a moderate Democrat, her stock has risen after the 2006 elections. Facing elections in 2008 she may have to square off against Bobby Jindal if he chooses to go after a Senate seat rather than the Governor's Mansion.

Rep. Richard Baker D Sen. David Vitter - R
