Congressman from TX, 1988 Libertarian Party Presidential candidate, the "Champion of the Constitution."  Can the Good Doctor cure your apathy, too?

M.D. Ob/Gyn, Air Force Flight Surgeon and 20 year Congressman from Texas-14 (Brazoria), as 1988 Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate got 431,000 votes (0.5%), pro-Constitution, anti-war, abolish IRS, abolish Dept of Education, abolish some CIA activities, cut spending by two-thirds, bring troops home from across the world, institute sound money, Austrian Economics, abolish the Federal Reserve, conservative. Author of books and papers, he is a thinker and definitely not a nut job.

Although not a front runner in traditional polling, he has the strongest Internet base among the Republicans and became the leading fund raiser inthe fourth quarter of 2007. His online community set all time fund raising records on November 5, 2007 by bringing in $4.38 million from nearly 40,000 contributors in a 24 hour period. Then they did it again on December 16 with 60,000 contributors and over $6 million. Although 72 years old he is vigorous and active. He was a high school and college track and swimming athlete. His support for ending the. War on Drugs earns him support from a significant segment of college and young adults. He is sometimes criticized as a racist for his opposition to social welfare and other entitlement programs. We'll explore those claims and criticisms below and you can decide for yourself.

He has never voted to increase taxes. He has never voted for an unbalanced budget. He continues to be reelected. He has never voted to raise Congressional pay and returns part of his budget to the Treasury every year.

He supports an end to Social Security by allowing young people to opt out, but only after bailing it out and providing for those who have been made dependent upon it. It sounds like a fair approach that critics will relabel and attack.

The last Republican in the race he dropped out June 12, 2008 promising future projects that would move the revolution forward in the coming months.
