The critics are vocal. They call him a kook, a racist an idealist. The most serious among them try to ignore him and keep him out of the press. The problem with many of the criticisms is that they stem from conventional logic and the facts we were taught in school. If you dig deeper you discover many of Dr. Paul's assertions fit the actual facts more closely.

  • Conspiracy Theories : Two conspiracy theories have found their way to Ron Paul. 911 Truthers and North American Union conspiracy theorists claim Dr. Paul as one of their own. This assertion is bolstered by Ron Paul's appearances with radio talk show host Alex Jones and a heavily quoted Michelle Malkin hit piece after Paul was interviewed by Students for 911 Truth during a campus visit. :: Continue reading...
  • Contribution from White Supremacist Don Black : In July 2007, Don Black the owner of Stormfront.org, a white supremacist website donated $500 to the Ron Paul campaign. Made aware of the contribution, the Ron Paul campaign refuses to return the money. Should they? Is this really an issue? :: Continue reading...
  • Ending the Income Tax : He has said he'd do away with the IRS, end the income tax and repeal the sixteenth amendment. Some people find this incredible. Where would the government get the money it needs to defend the nation, enforce contracts and protect property rights? How much is that? A summary review of the 2006 federal accounts makes it look like the critics are right and Ron Paul is exaggerating his ability if not his desire to do away with the IRS in his first week of office. :: Continue reading...
  • Opposition to Civil Rights Act : Ron Paul opposes the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and the Executive order 11246 that spawned Affirmative Action. Many see this opposition as evidence that Paul is a racist. :: Continue reading...
  • Opposition to Hate Crimes Laws : Ron Paul opposes legislation against thought crimes. :: Continue reading...
  • Pork for his district : Tim Russert quoted a Wall Street Journal article that accused RP of including earmarks in spending bills. Although Paul voted against the bills, he knew they would pass so he was being inconsistent ( even hypocritical) in using this means to bring pork back to his district. :: Continue reading...
  • Racism : Critics contend that Ron Paul is a racist and more. Their assertions :: Continue reading...
  • Ron Paul on DailyKOS : DailyKOS bloggers troll rate Ron Paul blogs by a margin of 30-1. :: Continue reading...
  • Ron Paul on Religion :
“I think we should read the First Amendment, where it says, “Congress shall write no law.” And we should write a lot less laws regarding this matter. It shouldn’t be a matter of the president or the Congress. It should be local people, local officials–we just don’t need more laws determining religious things or prayer in school. We should allow people at the local level. That’s what the Constitution tells us…”
Paul means it just that way. He is very consistent in the idea that difficult problems require local solutions. He is personally Christian, and some of his views are obviously influenced by his beliefs, but his strongest belief is his opposition to using the power of the federal government to impose his beliefs on others.

  • The Civil War : Paul is on record criticising Lincoln for entering into the Civil War unnecessarily. This is a perfect example of Paul questioning something we were all taught in school and most of us accept as fact. Namely that the Civil War (or War Between the States as my Louisiana history teacher insisted on calling it) was fought to end slavery and that without it we would still have slavery. :: Continue reading...
